Getting to Know Jun Dumaug

Roderico Yordan Dumaug, Jr., publicly known as Jun Dumaug, is the incumbent Barangay Chairman of Kiwalan, Iligan City, Mindanao, Philippines. He also currently is an Institute Lecturer of Iligan City's state university, MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology of Mindanao State University System (MSU).





PUBLIC LIFE



Jun Dumaug has been in public service since he was 17 years old being elected as SK Chairman of the same barangay and made an exemplary performance during his stint as one of Iligan's young leaders. When his term ended in 1998, he won as youngest barangay councilor and received the highest number of votes from Kiwalan constituents. In 2002 election, he became the youngest Barangay Captain elected in Iligan City and proven his dedicated competence and principled and honest politics in local governance. In May 2007 national elections, he attempted to run as City Councilor of Iligan City and almost landed a seat therein despite his first attempt in city-wide politics and the obvious lack of financial resources armed only w ith exemplary performance in his own territorial jurisdiction.





Jun Dumaug likewise served a term as President of MSU-IIT's highest student body, the KASAMA ( Kataas-taasang Samahan ng Mag-aaral). Despite a short term of service, he garnered the Institute Leadership Award, an award rarely given to an alumna/alumnus unless he qualifies for the criteria.





ACADEMIC



He finished elementary at Kiwalan Elementary School, graduated in high school as his father's company scholar at St. Michael's College, he studied BS ECE at MSU-IIT until the 4th year, shifted to Political Science when politics got him, proceeded to law school and graduated in 2001 at Mindanao State University (MSU-IIT Extension Law Classes). He likewise enrolled in Master in Public Administration (MPA) at Bukidnon State University (Iligan Satellite)




PERSONAL



Although seen on public, Jun Dumaug is homebody at heart. He is the second child in the brood of four siblings to Roderico Erat Dumaug and Josefina Yordan Quimque. His being a poet at heart and being an honest public servant earned him the yes to marriage of his long time friend and classmate,Lorelyn Galarrita Turtosa. The couple is blessed with the gift of a son, Patrick Francesco Turtosa Dumaug and lives a simple family lifestyle.

What is Justice and Development Movement?

Justice and Development Movement (JDM) is the battlecry of Jun Dumaug.

He believes that in any political unit or any local government unit operating within the Philippines or even in any place all over the world, true development is hardly attained without justice experieced by the constituents. By definition, JUSTICE is the quality of being just: conformity to the principles of righteousness and rectitude in all things; strict performance of moral obligations; practical conformity to human or divine law; integrity in the dealings of men with each other; rectitute; equity; uprightness. DEVELOPMENT, on the other hand, is defined as the act of developing or disclosing that which is unknown: a gradual unfolding process by which anything is developed, as a plan or method or an image upon a photographic plate; gradual advancement or growth through a series of progressive changes; also, the result of developing or a developed state.

In consonance with the above principles and definitions, Jun Dumaug makes use of these two basic elements in attaining periodic achievement in all his dealings; whether in his personal or public life.

True DEVELOPMENT can only happen if the manner in which the desired outcome is done comes from an uncompromised sense of JUSTICE.
